Location. The historic NH Barbizon Palace hotel is located in the centre of Amsterdam, Holland, in the city's main financial and shopping area. The hotel is opposite Amsterdam Centraal train station and less than one kilometre from busy Dam Square.
Hotel Features. Set behind the restored facades of 19 traditional buildings, most dating from the 17th century, the NH Barbizon Palace hotel is linked by an underground passage to the famous St. Olof's Chapel. The spacious tiled lobby sits beneath a glass atrium and is decorated with steel-blue pillars and Dutch paintings.

The hotel's Michelin-starred Restaurant Vermeer serves gourmet French cuisine in a 17th-century setting. Walls are clad in traditional blue-and-white Delft tiles and the floors are marble. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in Hudson's Restaurant and Terrace, which has a nautical theme. This relaxed restaurant serves fresh seafood, snacks and drinks. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

The hotel has 12 meeting rooms, including a contemporary conference centre set in the 15th-century St. Olof's Chapel. There's a business centre and wireless Internet access.

The NH Barbizon Palace hotel offers a fitness centre with exercise machines, free weights and a personal trainer (surcharge). There's also a sauna, wood-floored steam bath and massage services (surcharge).

Guestrooms. The NH Barbizon Palace hotel's 270 air-conditioned guestrooms are decorated in a traditional style, with wooden furniture and red, gold and green fabrics. Rooms feature satellite television, minibars and dial-up Internet access. Grey marble bathrooms have bath/shower combinations and phones.

Expert Tip. 17th-century Amsterdam life is recreated in the nearby Museum Amstelkring. This canal house has a hidden church in the upper storey.

Kørselsvejledning

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS):
Distance to NH Barbizon Palace hotel is 20 kilometres, approximately 25 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A railway station is located under Schiphol Plaza, in the central hall of the terminal. Every 15 minutes a direct train runs to Amsterdam Central Station, just across the canal from the hotel. One-way tickets cost 4 EUR. Approximate travel time is 15 minutes. The Airport Shuttle offers a regular daily service between the airport and the hotel. Travel time is 45-60 minutes and tickets cost 10.50 EUR. Shared Schiphol Travel taxis can be found outside the arrivals hall. The cars can seat up to eight people and cost around 19 EUR per person. Private taxis into Amsterdam city centre cost approximately 40 EUR. Public buses frequently run to Amsterdam and other destinations. Buses 197 and 370 go to central Amsterdam and Amsterdam Zuid. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. The hotel is in the centre of Amsterdam, opposite the central station. Amsterdam can easily be explored by foot. However, there are convenient bus, tram and metro services running through the city and outside areas. Cycling is also a popular way to see Amsterdam. There are taxi ranks at the central station. Driving within the canal ring is discouraged.
